A simple character design I've made for fun.
The recent stressful time has prevented me from going on with full artworks.
"Độc huyền cầm"
"Độc huyền cầm" (which means "One-string musical instrument") must be one of the most impressive and unique Vietnamese traditional musical instrument, due to the fact that it only has 1 string. While many other classic string instruments (like zithers, whose the number of strings can reach 36) need multiple strings to play music, "độc huyền cầm" can be used to play all kinds of music with just its only string. The secret lies in the rod (where the string comes from) and the way you toss the string. When you either adjust the rod or toss the string differently, the sounds will be different on the same string.
Just like other classic instruments, "độc huyền cầm" is mostly used to play Vietnamese traditional music and opera. However, as I said above, it can be used to play anything, if you know how to combine it well with other instruments (I even used to see some guy use it to play modern rock music).
